This piece we purchased as an addition to the matching desk. The pieces in the collection look great for the price. That being said, I gave it a rating of 3 stars for quality. It is not solid woods and the desk unfortunately arrived with one piece cracked. We could have returned this item for another but it was extremely heavy and quite cumbersome to put together. It wasn't something I was willing to take apart after so many hours of putting together for a replacement. We have not yet opened the utility stand box and hopefully there will not be any issues with this piece.

Directions were not included. Sauder did fax them to me quickly, but the drawer assembly was a little vague. Had to take it apart twice to get it to work, and I'm still afraid the front is going to fall off. Some pieces were chipped or worped. Sauder is sending replacements. Finally got it all together and then the drawer wouldn't close. Forced it a little, then it wouldn't open. Called Sauder, they couldn't figure out what the problem was. Finally had a handyman take a look. The board that goes under the drawer was too short: had to loosen the screws to close the drawer properly, contrary to the instruction. I'm having him reinforce the drawer and put a 1/4 plywood strip under the too short piece so it won't fall apart too soon.

It came early by UPS, even though we were in the middle of a 20 year flood, and most road to the coast were closed. Excellent service from Wayfair.

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I was in search of a file cabinet that looked more like furniture compared to the cold metal that you typically see. I came across this piece and thought it was just what I was looking for. It looked sleek, modern and not too cumbersome. I almost passed on it though as I read online reviews from other consumers but with the price and my desperate need to get organized I figured I had little to loose. It was either this or cold... ugly... metal. And I was not disappointed! It came in pieces so I had to pull out my tools. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to put it together but the instructions were very easy to follow. The greatest complaint that I saw from consumers was that the drawer was uneven and was scraping the inside when opening and closing. I have absolutely no problems with drawer. I am very pleased with this purchase and would purchase Saunder products again.

The product was delivered promptly, actually sooner than I expected. All of the pieces were included and packed with care as to not damage the product. I would purchase products from Wayfair again.

Had looked forever for a cabinet with a lateral file and storage. Wayfair had it. I ordered it. It's a perfect size for a table lamp, storage for a laptop when not in use, and, of course the lateral file. Truly, couldn't have found a better item, if I had had it custom-made to order!!!
