All of Stakmore's chairs and tables are constructed of solid hardwood that has been dried to the proper moisture content for the North American climate. Why should you care about that? Wood used in furniture that has not been dried properly will give off moisture over time, shrinking, creating gaps in joints, cracking and splitting.
After drying, machining and assembling furniture the most visible part of furniture and the critical point that differentiates most furniture in the customers mind is the finish. Stakmore utilizes a multi-step stain, sealer and topcoat process to provide a rich durable finish on all products.
Stakmore takes great pride in being an environmentally friendly company and has been one for decades. For over 30 years Stakmore has utilized all scrap wood waste and sawdust as fuel to heat their factory and dry the lumber used. In addition Stakmore helps area cabinet shops avoid adding to the landfill by taking their excess wood waste, grinding it up and burning it for fuel. By utilizing 100% of the lumber purchased they reduce their need for fossil fuels.
Even the purchase of lumber takes into consideration renewability. All lumber used comes from managed, sustainable forests. Following managed forestry practices ensures that future generations will have forests and that animals will still have homes.

We have an undersized dining space, so we utilize am expandable table and these very attractive folding chairs when entertaining. The chairs are excellent in function. Very strong (several people exceeding 300 lbs have used them, no signs of distress). The chairs collapse to approx 6" in depth and stand without needing to lean when in their collapsed form. I would say they are actually lighter than steel folding chairs, so very easy to move. I purchased 6 chairs. One is very difficult to open. I believe they become much easier as you get them open and closed. It can be a challenge to make sure you only grab the wood and not the cushion when opening and closing the chair. If you grab the cushion, the screw that holds the back of the cushion down will pop out, and you can't get it to take hold again. The chairs have not shown any issues despite missing this screw (I've lost it on two chairs so far). There are other screws holding the cushion on at other points along the seat frame. All in all, very sturdy and good looking chairs. Aside from disposing of packing material, no assembly required. If you are trying to expand your space without using steel chairs, these are a very good option.

Received the chairs via parcel on the day expected. Had the tracking number sent and all went smoothly. A lot of Styrofoam to keep the chairs from getting scratched in transit, and box in a box in case the outer box is poorly handled. It makes for considerable waste, but the cardboard is all recyclable.

[...]The chairs are well made and attractive. My mother is pleased with her gift but does find the mechanism a bit stiff. We hope that they will become easier to unfold as they are used.I do wish, however, that the side screws were black. The silver metal stands out in too much contrast with the wood.

I bought the chairs for extra seating in my dining room. I wanted something storable. I also wanted a chair that looked nice and not a typical metal folding chair. I am very happy with how these chairs look and the cushions make them comfortable. They are not a replacement for a regular dining room chair, but they are a nice addition for those occasions you need some extra seating.

I purchased these to replace chairs that came with a dining room table. Ordered 2 at first and once they came in I was so pleased with them I bought the other two. They are well made, sturdy, and fold and unfold securely. They are much better than you would expect for a folding chair.
